Edna, CA is a gorgeous area rich with natural beauty, but major car accidents also happen here every day. Anyone who has been injured in a car accident in Edna will want to learn about their legal options for repaying their medical bills and other costs. If their accident was caused by another driver, they may be able to file an injury claim against any at-fault drivers’ insurance.
Many people in this situation appoint an Edna car accident lawyer to represent them and provide a legal strategy for their case. Hiring a lawyer gives you access to their knowledge, skills and services — all of which can increase the chance of your injury claim bringing you the maximum compensation possible.
Insurers often want to play hardball, and they can use tactics that take advantage of those who don’t know about their legal rights. Once you sign a settlement, it’ll be too late to ask for more money.
Don’t get taken advantage of; learn your legal rights, back your claim up with strong evidence, and use arguments that can convince juries and insurers to recognize the full value of your damages.
You can speak with an experienced car accident attorney in Edna during a free, no obligation consultation. Call Ernst Law Group today at (805) 586-0194, or contact us online to schedule your free appointment now.
Forms of Compensation Available in an Injury Claim
When you file a personal injury claim against someone else’s third-party bodily injury liability insurance, it is supposed to pay for all of your losses related to your accident. These losses are called “damages,” and a successful car accident settlement can reimburse you for all of them.
Common damages filed in a car accident claim include:
- Medical bill repayment
- Out of pocket treatment costs
- Future medical bills and necessary care
- Lost wages
- Pain and suffering
- Vehicle repairs
When filing for your damages, you have to back up your claim with evidence. You have to be able to prove that your medical expenses were necessary — something insurers will often dispute to reduce your claim’s value. You will also have to prove that the driver you are accusing was actually at fault for the accident.
An Edna car accident attorney can help you gather the evidence needed to make a strong argument. If you can’t convince an insurer to pay for all your damages in a settlement, your lawyer can take your case to court to try and convince a jury that you deserve every bit of compensation for your losses.
History of Edna, CA
Edina is a small census-designated place in San Luis Obispo County, home to just 193 people. The community was founded in the late 1800s by a dairyman named Edgar Steele. He founded a town to house his employees. In 1883, the area was subdivided and named Maxwellton. Eventually, local citizens renamed the town Edna. To this day, no one knows exactly who Edna was, or why the town was, or why the town was named for her.
Though dairy farming and coal mining were the primary industries when the town was founded, Edna has become known for its wine grapes in recent years. Additionally, in the past few decades, efforts have been made to restore the area to honor its historic beauty.
The main attraction in Edna is the Old Edna townsite. It’s stood since the town’s founding, and now serves as a tasking room for Stoller’s Sextant Winery, as well as a delicatessen.
Edna is a picturesque small town straight from the 1800s, and at Ernst Law Group, our San Luis Obispo-based lawyers love being part of this community. For over 35 years, we have represented Edna residents and tourists who were injured through no fault of their own. We also take part in a variety of different events in the community and offer scholarships to students in need. Edna is a beautiful place, and we want to do all we can to keep it that way!
